From the moment I walked in, promotional signage and the menu promised a complete set including: • A Kobe beef entrée (today’s recommended cut) • A warm Kobe‑beef side dish • Rice • Salad • Soup However, when our server, Kau, took our order, she told us that the set did not include the beef itself. We ended up ordering a 120 g portion of Kobe beef for ¥3,100, then paying an extra ¥900 for rice, salad, and soup. Meanwhile, the Japanese customer next to us received the full advertised lunch set—including steak—for just ¥2,300. When we questioned this, Kau insisted our order “was not the lunch set,” despite our menu and the promotional photos matching exactly what the other guest received. We felt misled by the restaurant’s own advertising: the lunch menu at the entrance clearly showed the complete set, and we had every reason to expect the same offer. In summary: • Pros: The Kobe beef itself was beautifully tender and flavorful. • Cons: • Inconsistent pricing between customers. • Unclear communication about what the “lunch set” actually includes. • Misleading promotional signage. I wish Yazawa would clarify their lunch offerings and honor the advertised set uniformly. Until then, I can’t recommend this restaurant for lunch.
